Our Supporters

The Directors of the Elstree Film and Television Studios have provided                            financial support and offered to arrange tours for ex-film or TV workers.

 

The Facilities Manager of BBC Television ( Elstree ) has promised to help                     us to prepare a record of BBC productions created in Elstree.

 

The Curator of Cinematography at the National Museum of Photography,

Film and Television  has invited us to join the UK Screen Heritage Network

recently created to bring together archives, museums and educational bodies

concerned with preserving and communicating the heritage of the moving image

in the UK.  With this link to the National Museum we can now guarantee anyone

wishing to loan or donate material needing special care that we can draw on

the support of professionals.

 

             Curators at The Museum of London have welcomed our work as “a very good

             and interesting initiative” and hosted a visit by local Borehamwood students.

 

             The British Film Institute has provided material for our displays, and BECTU                 ( the Broadcasting Entertainment Cinematograph and Theatre Union ) expects                  “synergies between our organisations”.  The University of East   Anglia,                       its partner in the British Cinema History Research Project, finds our work                    “fascinating and exciting”

 

The Manager of the British Film Library  is “more than willing to support                 your project” while  the Stanley Kubrick Estate  has offered  “to lend                        documents, props or original film equipment”

 

The Manager and the Customer Services Manager of our local Tesco

superstore have set aside a central location for a series of displays on film                           and television topics designed by local students.

 

The Director of Specialist Arts at Hertswood Specialist Arts College                             is committed to the programme we have run for Year 10 students ( 15 year

olds ).  Each of these 250 or so students was included in a programme

to be designed jointly with the Student Art Council.

 

The Borehamwood and Elstree Times has published a souvenir magazine

written by two of our members ( “Elstree : Britain’s Hollywood” ) and reporters

regularly provide full coverage of our activities.

 

Local Councillors and Officers  are regularly briefed on our activities                       which they believe address areas of concern to the entire community.

 

Officers of the Borough and Town Councils have agreed to display                        posters and other publicity material.
